Description
The 2004 proof Sovereign features the classic design of St. George slaying the dragon by Italian engraver Benedetto Pistrucci, first seen on the 1817 Sovereign. The obverse features Ian Rank-Broadley’s fourth portrait of the Queen.
This coin is supplied encapsulated in its original case and outer box, compete with the Royal Mint Certificate of Authenticity.
15,000 individual proof Sovereigns were authorised for production in 2004 with 10,175 being minted. An additional 2,510 proof Sovereigns were minted for inclusion in the 3 and 4 coin Sovereign sets.
