Description
The 2006 proof Sovereign features the classic design of St. George slaying the dragon by Italian engraver Benedetto Pistrucci, first seen on the 1817 Sovereign. The obverse features Ian Rank-Broadley’s fourth portrait of the Queen.
This coin is supplied encapsulated in its original case and outer box, compete with the Royal Mint Certificate of Authenticity.
12,500 individual proof Sovereigns were authorised for production in 2006 with 9,195 being minted. An additional 2,290 proof Sovereigns were minted for inclusion in the 3 and 4 coin Sovereign sets.
